Our History

1994

Founded as an independent manufacturers rep firm focused on helping provide specialty materials and tape parts to durable goods manufacturers.

1997

Company becomes an authorized Venture Tape authorized manufacturers rep firm dramatically expanding pressure sensitive tape offerings.

2001

Tape stocking and distribution business begins to add value and meet customer lead time expectations.

2005

Expanding into manufacturing to deliver on customer requests, Engineered Materials begins assembly and converting processes.

2009

Rapid growth of converter business, in spite of the “Great Recession”, prompts the expansion into a expanded manufacturing facility alongside investment in converting capacity and capabilities.

2012

Recognized by 3M as a valued manufacturing partner, Engineered Materials recognized by 3M as a 3M Select Converter.

2014

Customer demand continues to drive growth. Engineered Materials expands production space by 4X and invests in additional converting capacity.

2017

The next era of Engineered Materials expansion arrives with new ownership and their commitment to investing in continuous improvement initiatives, equipment upgrades, and capability expansion.

2019

Codifying continuous improvement efforts, Engineered Materials invests in ISO 9001:2015 certification.

2020

Contributing the pandemic efforts, Engineered Materials pivots to support industry with face and office shields. In order to keep pace with capacity requirements to meet customer demand, the company purchases its expanded headquarters location in Blaine, Minnesota.

2021

Engineered Materials becomes a 3M Preferred Converter, a designation reserved for only a small number of converters nationwide.

2022

Company executes major ERP investment to drive enhanced customer service, quality, speed, and delivery.

2023

Slitting, cutting, and prototyping equipment investments made to expand capacity and shorten lead times.

2024

Engineered Materials celebrates 30 year of excellence by reaffirming its commitment to continuous improvement for its customers.
