3M™ UHMW Polyethylene Tape 5425
The firm acrylic adhesive on 3M™ UHMW Polyethylene Tape 5425 resists many solvents and oils, providing strong adhesion and chemical resistance in demanding environments. Engineered with a UHMW polyethylene backing, this tape is designed for applications with severe impact or sliding wear where a durable, low-friction surface is required.
Applications include: Abrasion protection for rubber fuel cells and gaskets exposed to numerous corrosive chemicals; spiral-wrapped wire harnesses resistant to hydraulic fluids; dissimilar-metal separation to help prevent wear and chemical corrosion; wear surfaces requiring transparency; and guide rails and chutes requiring a more durable, solvent-resistant sliding surface.
- No evidence of wear-through after 1000 cycles of Taber Abrasion testing
- Low water vapor transmission rate
- Acrylic adhesive bonds best to high surface energy materials
- Outlasts PTFE and other materials in sliding applications
